Detective series is hands down one of my favorite mystery/thriller sub-genres。 When I picked up Memory Man at the library a few years ago and "met" Amos Decker I was instantly hooked on the series。 Fun facts about Decker:🔎 Due to sports head injury he is unable to forget anything🔎 He is a police detective who now does joint duty with the FBI🔎 He solved every single case he worked on🔎 He comes from a tragic past Seven books later, I'm still obsessed with the series。 In the latest installment, Dec Detective series is hands down one of my favorite mystery/thriller sub-genres。 When I picked up Memory Man at the library a few years ago and "met" Amos Decker I was instantly hooked on the series。 Fun facts about Decker:🔎 Due to sports head injury he is unable to forget anything🔎 He is a police detective who now does joint duty with the FBI🔎 He solved every single case he worked on🔎 He comes from a tragic past Seven books later, I'm still obsessed with the series。 In the latest installment, Decker gets a new partner, Frederica White。 It takes time for them to warm up to each other, but they make a great team solving the latest series of murders。 A judge and her bodyguard are murdered in the same house。 But Decker suspects the murders were committed not by one, but two killers?! As investigators go down the killers' trail, they begin losing key witnesses。 Decker also discovers, there is a plan to let him go off the force if he loses this case。 No pressure, right?!Great mystery, kept me guessing till the end who the killers were。 There were a few usual suspects and it made it so much more exciting to follow the trail。 No huge surprise at the end, but the story was so good, with so many leads, that I just kept turning the pages。 Baldacci-style chapters are bite-size and often end in a mini-cliffhanger。 Impossible to put down! 。。。more

A huge thank you to Hachette books and Grand Central Publishing for my advanced copy! Admittedly, I was worried that starting with the last book in a series as my first go would make things complicated, but this was not the case at all! I could easily jump right in and Baldacci provided more than enough depth and details to make Long Shadows feel like its own story entirely。 Thanks to my gifted copy, I will 100% be reading the other parts that complete the Memory Man series because I was blown a A huge thank you to Hachette books and Grand Central Publishing for my advanced copy! I could easily jump right in and Baldacci provided more than enough depth and details to make Long Shadows feel like its own story entirely。 Thanks to my gifted copy, I will 100% be reading the other parts that complete the Memory Man series because I was blown away by how good this was。 It was full of nonstop suspense and felt like I was watching one of my favorite investigation shows play out。 Amos Decker is a fabulously stubborn man with a sharp memory and a knack for solving the most unsolvable of crimes。 He’s assigned to a murder case of a SW Florida judge and her bodyguard, unknowing of the many complexities and layers this case will become。 He’s also battling an equally tough thing for him: change。 He’s assigned a new partner, Frederica White, to help him on the case – the two of them must see eye to eye and establish a working partnership to solve a crime that keeps getting more complex。 I loved Amos so much! He’s a true fighter; he’s been through hell and back but he kept going。 He’s sharp and sarcastic and it was exhilarating watching his memory piece together the parts of the puzzle。 I enjoyed watching Amos and Freddie’s partnership evolve and how they connected through their broken hearts and loss。 They made one bad ass team。 I sped through this book so quickly and could never guess the next lead or unsuspecting detail – which made me turn the page even faster。 Overall, this was such a great book and a perfect opening into a series I am excited to start! 。。。more

LONG SHADOWS is an overall entertaining procedural that follows an FBI agent and an FBI contractor as they travel to Florida to investigate the brutal killing of a federal judge and her bodyguard。 Decker is a contractor with an excellent record, who is not particularly well-liked by the bureau。 He has an eidetic memory as well as a bit of synesthesia from a head injury when playing football when he was younger, and it has made him an excellent detective。 He has been assigned to work with Freddie LONG SHADOWS is an overall entertaining procedural that follows an FBI agent and an FBI contractor as they travel to Florida to investigate the brutal killing of a federal judge and her bodyguard。 Decker is a contractor with an excellent record, who is not particularly well-liked by the bureau。 He has an eidetic memory as well as a bit of synesthesia from a head injury when playing football when he was younger, and it has made him an excellent detective。 He has been assigned to work with Freddie White, a Black agent, who has been blocked from promotions for too long。 While they are forced into the partnership, they do find themselves working well together as they proceed on the case。The case itself ends up getting quite twisty with other crimes following the initial ones, leading them down paths that were long in the past and through politicians and blackmailers to the explosive end。 There were plenty of red herrings along the way, as it seems that everyone had a bit of motive in this case。This was an engaging story overall, and the paths it took were all intriguing as they learn about all the possible connections between the victims。 The story stayed focused on the case, which did give this procedural an immersive feel。 The descriptions, particularly of women, can be a bit out there at times (ie, the woman with eyes like curious antennae), and it does get mired amongst the prose occasionally, with a bit of a windy path to figuring out whodunnit。 They definitely make some mistakes along the way, particularly with Decker siding with another white guy。 However, the story remained entertaining and kept me invested, as I read to very end in order to find out what happened。Overall, LONG SHADOWS was an twisty procedural that will keep readers engaged and guessing。 Please note that I received an ARC。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

Amos Decker is one of my favourite fictional detectives。 Injured whilst playing football, Amos is known as the Memory Man, he remembers everything he sees。 This is book 7 in the series and I have loved every single one of them。 I highly recommend starting at the beginning, with Memory Man, as this will give you background into who Amos is who he is and why。 In Long Shadows, Amos has a lot to deal with。 He is mourning the loss of a friend, battling health issues and wondering where he fits into t Amos Decker is one of my favourite fictional detectives。 Injured whilst playing football, Amos is known as the Memory Man, he remembers everything he sees。 This is book 7 in the series and I have loved every single one of them。 I highly recommend starting at the beginning, with Memory Man, as this will give you background into who Amos is who he is and why。 In Long Shadows, Amos has a lot to deal with。 He is mourning the loss of a friend, battling health issues and wondering where he fits into the world now that his partner Alex Jamison has moved on。 Then he gets a call and is sent to South Florida with his new partner, Freddie White。 A federal judge and her bodyguard have been murdered in the judge's home。 The local authorities are not happy that the FBI have been called in, but Decker and White just want to solve this case。As always, there are a multitude of possible suspects。 Freddie and Amos pull out all the tricks they know to get to the bottom of this one。 It certainly kept me guessing and turning those pages, I had no idea how it was going to conclude。Baldacci is an auto read author for me, and this book just shows you why。 His plots are complicated but never confusing。 His characters are realistic and get into your heart。 Thanks to Macmillian Australia for my advanced copy of this book to read。 Publishes in Australia, October 11th。 。。。more

I’ve read all of the Memory Man books, loving each one。 This is by far my favorite。 The book starts out with some reflection of people who have been in Deckers life along with a little drama。 Then he is sent to Florida with a new partner。 She’s very likable with quick wit that actually makes Decker smile occasionally。 Every chapter is filled with drama, excitement and another piece of the puzzle to help Decker and ‘Freddie’ solve their case。 I read this book in 2 days, just couldn’t put it down。

I don’t know how Baldacci manages to tell such exciting and thrilling tales of murder and crime while at the same time tugging at your heartstrings with what many of the characters are going through – including Amos Decker and his wonderful new partner Freddie。 But, once again the memory man does his thing and manages to put together seemingly unrelated pieces of extraneous information to solve several murders all with the help of his new partner, Fredricka White, who luckily for Amos really doe I don’t know how Baldacci manages to tell such exciting and thrilling tales of murder and crime while at the same time tugging at your heartstrings with what many of the characters are going through – including Amos Decker and his wonderful new partner Freddie。 But, once again the memory man does his thing and manages to put together seemingly unrelated pieces of extraneous information to solve several murders all with the help of his new partner, Fredricka White, who luckily for Amos really does know how to use her double black belt in karate。 。。。more
